Varicose and Spider Vein Treatment

Varicose veins are twisted, enlarged veins. They are visible, protruding veins, most often located in the legs. There can also be varicose veins beneath the surface, which can cause problems as well. These veins have tiny valves which pump blood back to the heart and for various reasons the valves are not able to pump the blood efficiently.

Because these veins in the leg are not pumping blood efficiently, blood does not completely empty from the veins and it begins to pool, which leads to the enlargement of the veins, which are then classified as varicose veins.

Spider veins are web-like networks of blood vessels which appear on the surface of the skin; they are a mild form of varicose veins. They are also caused by the valves in the veins not pumping the blood effectively.

Spider veins are smaller than varicose veins. They are typically red, blue and purple vessels that can occur on the legs and face. Spider veins on the face are normally caused by the bursting of tiny blood vessels. This can be caused by sun damage or pressure on the vessels themselves.

Not at all. We never use a general anesthetic. We’ll apply a topical anesthetic which will numb the area to be treated. You’ll be fully awake and pain-free.
